In the Ring with Jordan #10: Kevin Thorn should be given another shot at the WWE.. Here's why

If you watched WWE in 2007, chances are you'll know who Kevin Thorn is. Kevin Thorn, the former "Mordecai", was brought into WWE's ECW as part of a new initiative to have more science-fiction characters, considering that the show would air on the Sci-Fi network.
Arriving in ECW in the summer of 2006, Thorn was nothing short of impressive. He was athletic, agile, and had a unique gimmick--something that really clicked for me. I was sure that he would be a shoe-in for ECW World Champion.
Apparently the WWE didn't agree with how I saw it. Although Thorn had a winning streak and had an important role in the "New Breed" stable, he wasn't taken as seriously as he was supposed to. Constant losses to CM Punk and Stevie Richards ruined his momentum. After the New Breed parted ways, Thorn's television time diminished.
There was a period in late 2007 where Thorn simply disappeared from ECW television, leaving me and many members of the "Bite Club" confused. While Thorn did return, it was simply not effective. His character was completely rehashed from the vampire that I knew and was mesmerized by. This Thorn had spiky hair and looked like something that was a default character in a video game. Speaking of video games, Thorn wasn't even involved in SmackDown VS Raw 2008 yet when the game released, that was the peak of his career! But that's a different story for a different time.
The reason Thorn's character was cut off so suddenly was the resemblance that Vince McMahon saw between him and The Undertaker. While I strongly disagree, what Mr. McMahon wants, goes. After that repackaging of his character, Thorn finished up with the WWE in its developmental territory at the time, Ohio Valley Wrestling. From there, he would continue to compete in the developmental territory (Florida Championship Wrestling from 2008 onward) until he decided not to resign in 2009.
If you look at the Kevin Thorn of 2017, you can tell that he has the same drive and passion to compete as he did back in the days of ECW. He's in arguably the best shape of his life. I've seen some of his independent matches and he can still go in the ring.
Now is the perfect opportunity for WWE to resign him. The WWE is in need of "dark" characters. They have Bray Wyatt, but unfortunately he has been on the receiving end of bad booking. The same could be said about The Ascension's Konnor and Viktor. Aleister Black is a good "dark" character but the main roster is still missing that frightening character like Papa Shango and The Undertaker were.
An opportunity on SmackDown Live or even being brought in to work with the NXT talent would benefit the talent and the fans. Thorn has the experience to teach other younger wrestlers and can put on great matches. A feud with NXT's Aleister Black would give off Undertaker/Sycho Sid vibes between two disturbed entities.
With Halloween coming up, a cameo on SmackDown Live would be great nostalgia for fans. Make it happen, WWE!
