In the Ring with Jordan #12: Intercontinental Championship brings out best in Roman Reigns.. wait..

Roman Reigns isn't necessarily my favorite wrestler on the WWE roster. After the Shield's initial split, Roman Reigns was pushed heavily as the "top guy" in the company. I feel as if he was exposed too soon, and his weaknesses clearly showed (I'm never forgetting those Looney Tunes or tator tots analogies used in his feud with Sheamus). While I'm overly critical of Roman, I will say that his work improved vastly. He stopped trying to please the audience and just stuck to himself, not caring about reactions. I respect that.
Now that Roman Reigns is the current reigning Intercontinental Champion, I'm seeing his in-ring work flourish. His match with Elias last night on Raw actually made me interested in Reigns and his style. He truly is the new "locker room leader" and I respect his work ethic. Much like John Cena's United States Championship open challenges back in 2015, Reigns seemingly will defend his championship weekly on Raw.
Sure, it'll mean that Roman will constantly retain his title, but it brings an intrigue factor that has been missing from Raw for quite some time. Samoa Joe proceeded to attack Reigns after his successful defense against Elias. I assume this will mean that Joe is next in line for the Intercontinental Championship. That means that Joe and Reigns will tear the house down, as they have pretty good chemistry in the ring together.
While some may argue that The Miz was a great Intercontinental Champion, he surely didn't defend the championship every week. Having Reigns be the guy to install this into the title is the perfect decision for him. Rumors are spreading that Reigns will challenge Universal Champion Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 34, possibly being a title versus title winner takes all match. For now, though, Reigns will prove his worth as the Intercontinental Champion.
The opportunity of possible challengers like Bray Wyatt, Matt Hardy, Finn Balor, or Kane will allow Reigns to shine and provide opportunities for superstars who typically wouldn't receive title opportunities.
What do you guys think about Roman Reigns as Intercontinental Champion? Feel free to let me know.
